Senior Vice President of Regional Operations, Teach For America
Michelle Culver is the Senior Vice President of Regional Operations at Teach For America. As a Regional Field Executive, she leads 12 executive directors in urban and rural regions across the Western U.S. Michelle is responsible for a $47 million budget, 12,000 teachers & alumni, and 300 staff members reaching 200,000 students. During her time on the Regional Operations team, Michelle has worked with over 20 regions, including some of the fastest improving education systems in the country. She has stepped in to directly run regions during times of transition, launched seven new sites, and helped design and execute the leadership development of the 45-person national executive director team.
Michelle was a founding member of Teach For America’s national Teacher Support and Development team and co-led the team charged with ensuring a shared vision and national program strategy for aggressive growth, increased effectiveness and increased diversity. Michelle started her career as a Teach For America Los Angeles corps member teaching fifth-grade teacher in Compton, CA. She graduated from Tulane University in 1999 and holds an M.A. in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University. She is an Aspen Institute Pahara Fellow. Michelle currently lives in Denver, CO with her husband and two dynamic daughters.
