Joan Schunck jumped into the fight for educational excellence for all students in 1999 as a Teach for America corps member and math teacher in New Orleans and hasn’t looked back. Joan spent more than a decade at TNTP, first partnering with school districts and states to increase teacher effectiveness, then transitioning to a leadership role on TNTP’s Talent and Culture team, focused on data analytics and total rewards. Joan also served as the Vice President of Research and Impact at the Colorado Education Initiative, leading research and capacity-building efforts in school districts across Colorado and the Colorado Department of Education. Joan holds a Masters and Bachelors in Mathematics from the University of Colorado. She lives in Wheat Ridge with her husband, their three children, and dog. She advocates for educational excellence and equity as a member of the Wilmore-Davis PTA and parent participant in the Wheat Ridge Futures initiative.
